Update: Body found at Green Lakes State Park
The woman has been identified as Sarah Kench, an SU alum.
While most of Syracuse was watching the SU football team take down Virginia Tech, the Syracuse police department was at Green Lakes State park, where the body of a woman was found floating in the water.
A visitor to the park has called 911 after seeing what appeared to be a body, and the Fayetteville Fire Department pulled the woman out of the water around 1 pm. The New York State police is working to identify the woman. The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine how the woman died.
In the time that has passed since the discovery, the identity of the woman found has been released. Sarah, 38, from Dewitt, committed suicide by handcuffing herself to her bike and biking into Green Lake. She was an alum of SU. She left a written suicide note to her family and friends where she predicted her body would never be found.
