Why South Campus is actually the best place to live

Yes, it is better than Ernie

South Campus has had a bad rep amongst students for quite a while. What is unknown to the people who don’t live on South is that it is actually a hidden treasure of Syracuse. Look past the annoying bus schedule and the distance between south and main, and you find the mecca of student living.

First perk; it’s an apartment, not a dorm. No longer do you have to share your bathroom with 50 other people, (some who are known for using that room as their own personal puke bucket). No longer is ramen and cafeteria food your main source of nourishment. You and your roommate get your own rooms, your own kitchen, and your own bathroom. Not having to deal dorm meetings every week is one of the major perks with living on south. Also storing alcohol is not something you need to hide under beds anymore, you can freely store your booze to your hearts content. Random room-checks from RAs are a thing of the past.

Other perks that come with south are the multiple facilities provided. There’s tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts. Not to mention the ice skating rink. If you are ever bored on south you don’t have to resort to playing ping pong in the lounge, you can literally go ice-skating or hit up the ropes course.

So much love for Goldstein

Let’s not forget Goldstein, it provides study rooms, a mini store where you can buy food and snacks with your SUID. There’s also a Schine style food court where you can get Dunkin Donuts, Burger King, and Freshen smoothies.

The final thing that makes south so much superior than any other student on campus housing is the Inn Complete. That’s right, they have a freaking bar. The Inn complete is not only a great location because it serves alcohol later in the day and has great bar food; it is also the perfect student hang out. It is a ski lodge themed facility. They have a variety of games and entertainment, and they the most watched football or basketball games will always be playing on their many TVs. It truly of the best hang out spots the Syracuse has to offer and it’s right on south campus for all to enjoy. If you’re ever there do yourself a favor and order a chocolate milkshake, it’s the best.

When it comes to south campus living don’t knock it before you try it. It’s by far much better than any other dorm option you could think of, and yes I’m including Ernie.
