Overseas reactions to Cuse in the Final Four

We asked ‘Cuse students abroad what they think about all the madness

Syracuse is doing better than ever this basketball season. Students on campus are celebrating making it to the Final Four, but they aren’t the only ones bleeding Orange.

From 3000 miles away, students studying abroad are cheering on the team through their computer screens. This is what it’s like to find out about the Final Four victory from across the pond.

How did you find out that Syracuse made it to the Final Four?

I was sitting in my “flat” watching the game on my ’11 inch laptop on a sketchy website which was constantly buffering when there was about 15 seconds left in the game.

How did it feel watching all of the videos of Castle?

I honestly was a little sad and felt kind of left out. Being abroad is an amazing experience but being at ‘Cuse with all your friends at castle court celebrating an amazing accomplishment is something I think every abroad student is a little upset about.

Do you regret going abroad now that we’ve made it so far in March Madness?

Absolutely not! I love London and traveling Europe and I am ALWAYS repping Cuse from 3,000 miles away!

How did you find out that Syracuse made it to the Final Four?

I watched the game online with my friends. It was a lot of fun, but rough part was staying up since the time difference makes the games so late.

How did it feel watching all of the videos of castle?

Extremely jealous. It looked like an incredible time to be at Syracuse, something I’ve always wanted to be a part of. Me and my friend discussed how this could be one of the only times we experience our school making it to the final four (both teams) in our college experience. So it was definitely annoying to know that I couldn’t be there.

Do you regret going abroad now that we’ve made it so far in March Madness?

Nope. March Madness is incredible and awesome, but there is little complain while getting the chance to live in London and travel Europe.

How did you find out that Syracuse made it to the Final Four?
I found out Syracuse made it to the Final Four when I was watching it from the March Madness website with my friend Sarafiena. Also through everyone’s Snapchats back at Syracuse.
How did it feel watching all of the videos of Castle?
After watching all the videos at Castle Court I had MAJOR FOMO, I honestly wanted to book the next flight back to Syracuse just for one night to celebrate with everyone and listen to “Panda” By Desiigner (Not Future) and get lit with my family and friends.
Do you regret going abroad now that we’ve made it so far in March Madness?
I do not regret going abroad. Even though I’m so sad I can’t be in Syracuse to have seen the madness go down, London is dope and I wouldn’t change the experience for anything. I’ve seen a lot here and while day drinking and watching basketball at Syracuse is a great time, there’s always next time. Abroad is once in a lifetime.

How did you find out that Syracuse made it to the Final Four?
I watched the game in my computer. I’ve been an SU basketball fan my whole life and that was the best comeback I’ve seen an SU team make.
How did it feel watching all of the videos of Castle?
It made me feel sad because I wish I was there. It also invoked a lot of SU pride because everyone gets behind the team.
Do you regret going abroad now that we’ve made it so far in March Madness?
I don’t regret going abroad, because I’m having so much fun, but it would have been so cool to be back at SU now.

Kyra Semien, SU Florence Class of 2017

How did you find out that Syracuse made it to the Final Four?
I woke up and I got a bunch of texts saying “final four baby!”
How did it feel watching all of the videos of castle?
I have serious FOMO when it comes to castle I post videos about that night like I was there. It looks amazing I’m extremely jealous.
Do you regret going abroad now that we’ve made it so far in March Madness?
I’d never regret going abroad, but I am mad that I’m missing all the excitement. I’m going to just have to rep ‘Cuse a few thousand miles away.

Mahogany Aminzia, SU London Class of 2017

While abroad students wish they could cheer on the team with their fellow Orangemen, they’re going to have to settle for cheering half way around the world. Everyone on campus should rage ten times harder for their fellow students abroad. It’s game day, Bleed Orange from wherever you are in the world! I know I will be.
