Crop tops in the Quarry

We took a trip back to the 90s

Mountain bikers, hikers, stoners, runners and limestone enthusiasts are all able to culminate harmoniously in what I believe is to be the heart of Syracuse.

Naturally deposited clay have been the haven for mountain bikers to sculpt their most idealistic conditions. Hikers and runners have miles of paths and scenic strata. Stoners can stumble upon endless fire-pits most suitable for philosophical discussion, while those quirky limestone enthusiasts can caress infinite walls of limestone that surround what has come to be known as, The Quarry.

Haven’t heard of it? Well I’m glad. It’s quite a hidden gem, and I’d like it to stay that way.

My apologies, but this piece does not provide you with any directions on how to find this paragon of exploration. Take it amongst yourself to explore the hidden depths of ‘Cuse if you dare.

My roomie/best bud, Laura Kellerman and I have been venturing to the quarry since first semester of freshman year.

This three mile radial location gives us a little escape from a big university, which we will be forever grateful for when looking back on our college experience.

One of The Tab Syracuse’s editors searched high and low to find the quarry.

The scene inspired her to take a trip back in time, and shoot a 90s styled photoshoot.

Here are some pretty dope pics taken by The Tab’s Mahogany Aminzia.

Jenefer Rojas

“It’s very sketchy looking from the outside, especially being located in the middle of nowhere, but going inside you can tell that it’s been highly visited by students.

“There’s a bunch of graffiti on all the walls and cans of beer on the floor.

“But seriously, from an artistic perspective, it’s a really cool place to sketch and take pictures because of all of its industrial elements.”

Tauri Howard

“I found out about The Quarry last year when I was coming back form a SUOC hiking trip.

“The kid I was driving with pointed towards the trees and said, ‘if you ever want to have an awesome bonfire The Quarry is the place to go!

“The Quarry is definitely one of those hidden gems on campus. People are always in a rush to cross the water towers off their bucket list but I think a Quarry adventure should be on there as well.”

Krysta Wilson

“I think the Quarry is dope.

“Although the Quarry was damaged and falling apart, it seems like it is a playground because of all of the colorful graffiti artwork.”
