Your unofficial guide to Coachella style

Because half of the outfits are still yet to be seen

As week one of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival came to an end this past Sunday, the anticipation for round two is unyielding. Cars are beginning to pack up and head to California for a weekend of warm weather, music, and a whole new world of people.

Temperatures are predicted to be in the eighties and nineties – but this doesn’t stop the plethora of fashion trends walking around the festival. If there’s a time to look your best and rock your look with confidence, Coachella is the time and place. I mean, rumor has it that Kendall and Kylie Jenner will be attending, and a photo op could actually happen.

If you’ve never been to a music festival before and need some outfit inspiration, you’ve come to the right place. While I may not be going to Coachella this year, I have been to a couple of music festivals on the east coast and can attest to the fact that outfit selection is a pretty big deal.

Here’s what I would wear if I went. I mean, a girl can dream, right?

Friday: Day one

Everyone is setting up campsites and getting ready for the exciting weekend ahead. However pitching a tent and unpacking can be tiring, and a comfortable outfit may work best in your favor.

For this day, I would throw on a pair of comfortable hippie pants and pair it with a breezy tank top.

Saturday: Day two

First full day at the festival, and plenty of music still to come.

For my second outfit, I would probably dress up a little bit more than Friday. Here, I’m wearing a suede tan dress, a light cardigan for when it gets chilly at night, a hat to keep my face from harsh sun rays, and black cowboy boots to represent the South Carolina part of me out in Cali (shout out from the better USC).

Sunday: Day three

On the last day of the festival, you might be covered in a little bit of sweat and dirt, but it’s all part of the experience. I would most likely wear something light and breezy to combat the third day of sun and heat.

For the third day, I would wear light layers. Here in this picture, I layered a crop top and a tank top, and paired it with a pair of stretchy lace shorts, and combat boots.

Other necessities:

Flower crown

The popularity of the flower crown at music festivals is growing, but this has always been a notorious staple at Coachella in particular. The one I am wearing in this picture was homemade for only a couple of dollars! All you need is a bouquet of plastic flowers, super glue or hot glue, a headband, and scissors.

Something that connects you to home

Bring something that represents where you’re from, where you go to school, or something that you’re a fan of. It’s a small world out there, and you never know who you will meet that might have some similar connection with you.

Comfortable but cute shoes

You’re going to be walking all weekend, so comfortable shoes are a must. That doesn’t mean they can’t be cute! Bring shoes with you that you know will offer you support and comfort, while representing your style at the same time.

A practical bag

You’re going to have to carry a couple necessities around with you everywhere you go and it may get heavy. Opt for a small backpack or comfortable over the shoulder bag.

Miscellaneous

Always, ALWAYS carry these around with you: baby wipes, water, sunscreen, chapstick, water, a map/schedule, and water.

Have a fun, safe, and stylish time out there!
