We asked RU seniors what it’s like to be back for their last semester

‘Feels awesome. Glad to be back. I’m not concerned about the real world’

Leaving a place that you’ve been in for a long time is usually a very sad experience. Let’s take a look at what some Rutgers seniors had to say about leaving this May.

Marjorie, senior, Journalism and Media Studies and Political Science

“It’s kind of weird to think that this is the last time I’ll be walking down these streets as a student, especially since I’ve been here for five years. But on the other hand, thank God! I’m so done!”

Scott, senior, Journalism and Media Studies

“It kind of feels weird. It’s exciting to be back on campus. I like being on campus. But it’s also kind of weird to think that at the end of this semester I’m done. It feels like it went by pretty fast.”

Rosmi, senior, Cell Biology and Neuroscience

“It feels no different than any other semester. But it’s also more exciting because I know something new is coming for the end of this semester as opposed to before when I knew that my routine would be to leave Rutgers for a little bit, then return. Now I know that when I leave Rutgers, I’m not coming back, at least not in the near future.”

Kehinde, senior, Psychology

“I don’t think about it too much. It feels the same. But once it comes to the end of the semester, it’s probably going to dawn on me that it’s a little different. I might start coming to terms with the fact that I’m not going to be a student anymore. But instead, being I’ll be thinking about being an adult and not about school.”

Jesse, senior, Computer Science

“I feel mixed emotions. I’m glad to be done. But now I have to face the next stage of my life, the real world. I feel happy and sad I guess.”

Mike, senior, Accounting

“Feels awesome. Glad to be back. I’m not concerned about the real world.”

Chris, senior, Psychology

“Bittersweet. Nostalgic. Feels good overall. I’m feel both enthralled and excited.”

Muhsin, senior, Food Science

“Well, I can’t say that I’m happy that break is over, but it is hard to believe that I will be finished with my Rutgers career by the end of this semester. My main focus and my main stressor is getting the most out of this semester and trying as many new things at Rutgers as I can before I graduate. I feel at peace knowing that I have made it this far but I can’t help but be nervous for the future. I am excited to see what’s next, though.”
