I spent a night riding the Rutgers drunk bus

Every time the bus made a turn, a sea of people would bump into me

If you enjoy getting litty on the weekends and don’t live on College Ave, you know what it’s like to sit and stand while you and your sloppy friends are in transit to a frat party. While I’m blessed to live on College Ave and therefore don’t have to get on a bus to go to a party, I know that a vast majority of people have to.

A lot of my friends have told me hilarious stories about experiences and people they encountered on the bus en route to College Ave, so I decided to see for myself what it’s really like.

The results? Pretty underwhelming. Aside from a group of girls pregaming in the back of the bus, a few “Fuck Penn State” chanters, and the buses somehow being grodier than usual, it was just another Rutgers bus ride.

It’s always a good idea to pregame… even on the bus…..?

Maybe I hopped on the buses on a particularly boring night, or maybe since I was sober, it was particularly boring.

The stench of pot and beer was particularly strong, and every time the bus made a turn, a sea of people would bump into me. But let’s be honest, is that much different than a bus ride during the day?

I spy with my little eyes… a Bud Light on the EE

After my experiment, I’m starting to think that the Rutgers booze buses are only fun when you’re on them while hammered. I mean, when you’re zooted, any mundane activity suddenly turns into the most exciting and the best thing in the world. When you’re zooted, the people you only like a little suddenly turn into the people you sing your praises about, drunkenly slurring “I love you” to everyone you remotely know.

So it would only make sense that the same buses we dread when riding to class throughout the day turn into fun rides when we’re inebriated at night. Just add booze, and suddenly the buses seem more than just bearable, but actually exciting.

Please don’t tell me that’s barf…

It’s settled that the buses are definitely more disgusting at night. Whether or not the buses are actually fun at night are still up for debate. I haven’t given up hope on them. But regardless of your personal experiences, you have to admit that the alcohol in your system definitely adds to the experience.
