A study shows Purdue is the eighth most sleep-deprived school

A life of excellence demands less sleep

I saved $200 on coffee last month. The reason why? I used to depend on coffee to keep me awake every single day. Everyone at Purdue is living a life that demands excellence. That kind of life demands less sleep. To snooze or not to snooze? That is the question.

Out of all the roughly 1,800 universities in the nation, Purdue ranks eighth as the most sleep-deprived student population. Purdue averages at 6.76 hours of sleep. That average bedtime is 12:52 AM and on average everyone wakes up the same morning at 8:19 AM.

It’s no surprise Hicks Library — a place supposedly meant for studying — often looks like a collection of post-Thanksgiving-food-coma snoozers.

Here’s hoping all of our sleeplessness is worth it in the end.
