Andrew Caspersen ’99 charged with $95 million fraud scheme

His company said they were ‘stunned and outraged’

Andrew Caspersen, Princeton Class of 1999 and senior private equity executive with PJT Partners, was arrested on Saturday and charged with defrauding investors of more than $95 million.

One of these investors was a charitable foundation. He was charged in Manhattan federal court and released from custody on $5 million bail.

PJT Partners released a statement, saying they were “stunned and outraged” and have “commenced an internal investigation”.

Caspersen, 39, is a graduate of Princeton University (’99) and Harvard Law School (’02).

After graduating, he was the principal at a private equity firm in London before he became an executive at PJT.

His father, Finn M.W. Caspersen, the former chief executive of Beneficial Corp, was found dead in 2009 with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His girlfriend, Catherine Fairfax, was killed in the September 11 attacks in New York.
