Someone took the time to make a fake BJL demands list over Prof Perry’s arrest

‘WE DEMAND that the administration build a road…preferably in the sky where we can soar over traffic laws’

Last night, a Princeton Yik Yak user posted a document imitating the format of the Black Justice League’s initial demands to President Eisgruber which led to the sit-in at Nassau Hall.

Using the same style as the previous letter, the new document contains mocks the BJL’s recent response to Professor Perry’s arrest. The post was made amid a firestorm of Yik Yak debate over the arrest.

The post reads, in full:

“To President Eisgruber and Princeton Police Department,

We have gathered here today to outline our demands for this administration so that it may be held accountable in remedying the social experiences of its black students at Princeton.

WE DEMAND the university administration and the Princeton Police Department acknowledge their disgusting actions in arresting a minority. We also demand that the two officers make a public apology for their heinous actions in making an arrest after a routine check revealed the Victim was driving on a suspended license. Furthermore, we would like all marginalized peoples be exempt from traffic laws when it comes to speeding and requiring licenses.

WE DEMAND cultural competence training for all staff as well as Princeton Police Department officers. The horror of being arrested for having a warrant for one’s arrest is a severe injustice that would only have occurred to a minority or marginalized person.

WE DEMAND that the administration build a road into the Princeton University campus, for use solely by marginalized individuals, preferably in the sky where we can soar over traffic laws and standard police procedure.”
