Congressman Doyle and challenger Lenny McAllister to debate on Pitt’s campus

Debate will be held at Community of Reconciliation Church on October 24th at 6:30

Are you sick of the election? I’m assuming your answer is probably yes.  Although this circus of a presidential election is hogging all of the spotlight, we have some very important elections closer to home.

Tonight, October 24th at 6:30, 22 year incumbent congressman Mike Doyle (Democrat) and his challenger Lenny McAllister (Republican) will be debating at Community of Reconciliation Church at 100 North Bellefield Street right by the Cathedral of Learning.  They are both running to represent the 14th Congressional District, which includes Pitt’s campus.

Mike Doyle has been in congress for 22 years and has only introduced 60 bills, 16 of them being repeats.

If McAllister wins, he will be the first-ever African American congressman in western Pennsylvania and the first-ever Black congressman outside of Philadelphia.

McAllister has been creating a lot of buzz by getting both Republicans and Democrats to support him.  It should be an interesting and important debate (far more viewable than the presidential debates), so come and learn more about who you’re voting for!

If you cannot make it, KDKA NewsRadio will be streaming it here starting at 7.
