New Pittsburgh-based Netflix series is seeking extras

Your dream of playing a cop may be coming true

The Nancy Mosser Casting Company is looking for new talent for the Netflix  series “Mindhunter.”

The show is about two FBI agents who developed behavioral profiling in the 70’s. The show is being produced by David Fincher (Gone Girl, Fight Club, House of Cards) and Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road, Snow White and the Huntsman, Hancock) and filming will occur in Pittsburgh between May and December.

The casting agency is specifically looking for people 18 years or older, so it is perfect for any college student who dreams of acting. The extras will portray police officers, EMTs, firefighters, SWATs, military members, FBI agents and recruits. Experience in those areas is preferred but by no means necessary to audition. The agency’s blog specifies that they will be handling “non-union stand-ins, photo-doubles, and background players” for the “highly anticipated Netflix series.”

The series is based on former special agent of 25 years, John Douglas’ 1996 book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, according to deadline.com‘s Nellie Andreeva.

Andreeva went on to explain that “for years, Douglas pursued some of the most notorious serial killers and rapists, developing profiling techniques to catch them. The book goes behind the scenes of some of his highest-profile cases, including the man who hunted prostitutes in Alaska, the Atlanta child murderer, and Seattle’s Green River killer. To hone in his profiling methods Douglas interviewed and studied a skew of serial killers. Several book and TV characters have been based in part on him, including Jack Crawford in Thomas Harris’ The Silence of the Lambs, Will Graham on Hannibal and Jason Gideon on Criminal Minds.”

In the book, Douglas thoroughly examines each crime scene, recalling both the killer’s and the victim’s actions in his mind, constructing their profiles, depicting their habits, and predicting their next moves.

The show is expected to hit Netflix next year. The agency has informed us that they are looking for college-aged extras for several scenes, though extras need to be US citizens because they will go on vouchers and fill out I-9’s if booked. To audition, you may attend the open casting call on Saturday, April 16 from 11am until 4pm. If you cannot make it to the casting call, you can create a free profile here and look out for emails about casting.
