We asked Penn Staters what’s the farthest they’ve gone to get their crush’s attention

Because we all act a bit psychotic at one point or another

Everyone can think of the ridiculous thing(s) that they’ve done to get the attention of their crush. Usually in the moment it is hard to see just how far you are taking things, but when looking back on your actions it can be a good time to laugh at (or reevaluate) your life choices.

From simply lying about your interests to sprinting across campus to “run in” to them on the street, we talked to Penn Staters to find out some of the craziest things they’ve done to get their crush’s attention.

The secret stalker

“The guy I liked left his phone in the room when he went to the bathroom, so when he was gone I set his phone setting so that he was always sharing his location with me. That way I always knew where he was.”

The girl you have a lot in common with

“I spent the entire night researching NASCAR because he was a huge fan of it. We needed something to talk about so I lied and told him I have been going to races with my family since I was little.”

The girl whose texts you should answer

“I threw rocks at the guy I was seeing’s bedroom window. He had told me to come over and then wasn’t answering any of my texts or calls, I knew he was awake because his bathroom light was on when I drove by his house.”

The guy who is always studying

“I used to spend hours in the library even when I had no homework. The girl I liked used to always do homework in the same spot there so I would sit in that area watching Netflix hoping that she would come.”

The girl who slides into her own DMs

“My friends and I made a fake Instagram with my crushes name and commented on all of my pictures. We commented all sorts of things like ‘Damn, you are the prettiest girl at Penn State!!!’ or ‘We should be dating by now’ and then I screenshotted them and sent them to him. It was all really just an excuse for me to text him and act like I was really weirded out about it.”

The friendly neighbor

“Almost every week I used to pretend that I saw a police parked on the same street that the guy I liked drove by on his way home. I would always say something like ‘Be careful not to get a ticket!’ hoping that it would turn into a long conversation. It never did and I just ended up looking really concerned about his driving.”

The girl you work with

“This summer I worked at a bagel store and had a crush on of my co-workers. Since it was a bagel store we used to start work very early and every single time I worked I would wake up at 5 in the morning to curl my hair and put on a full face of makeup. I only realize now how insane I must have looked coming into work when everyone was half asleep looking like I was about to go to out.”

The guy who plays it cool

“After a night out I called this girl around 20 times. She never called me back so I called her again the next morning to find out why.”

The girl who fakes injuries

“I was at a party and saw a guy that I was into, so I jumped on the elevated surface so that he could see me dancing. I was trying so hard while dancing that I accidentally fell off of the stage and then tried to act like I got hurt so that he would come over and help me.”

The girl you always bump into

“My roommate was in the library when she saw my crush sit down at a table next to her, obviously she texted me immediately. I ran from my bedroom in East Halls all the way to the library just so that I could ‘run into’ him and say hi.”
