What do you watch when you Netflix and Chill?

When it comes time to Netflix and Chill with a new potential bae, which flick do you choose to set the mood?

Unless you live under a rock, you know what Netflix is. Whether you have your own account, log onto a friends or even a friend of a friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s account, moral of the story is everyone watches Netflix.

In the past few months, the phenomenon of “Netflix and Chill” has become an established “dating” strategy as the 21st century dating culture (especially in college) is less likely to involve actual dates and instead consists of casually hook up and watching TV. How romantic.

Not to mention Netflix and Chill provides the perfect transition from drunkenly flirting to soberly hanging out. Plus, the excuse to go to someone’s dorm/apartment/house to hang out and watch Netflix is way less nerve-wracking than going out to dinner, where you may have to actually interact in front of other humans.

Now of course we all know when someone asks you to come over and watch Netflix 9/10 times it’s code for “let’s hook up.”

It’s the perfect equation: privacy + movie = darkness + cuddling + background noise which = less pressure to dare I say it–talk to one another.

However, what movie you pick has the potential to make or break the mood. While The Exorcist isn’t exactly a panty dropper, Fifty Shades of Grey on the other hand…

So today The Tab asked Penn State students when it comes time to get it on, “What’s your go-to Netflix and chill movie?”

Sydney Mok, Junior

Netflix pick: One Tree Hill

Zack Ziernicki, Freshman

Netflix pick: Blue Bloods

“It’s a cop show about a family of cops in New York. My girlfriend goes to Duquesne and we don’t get to see each other very much so instead we follow the show together.”

Nikki Knauer, Sophomore

 Netflix pick: Entourage

“‘Cus it’s not like a chick flick. It’s really neutral so the guy will like it as much as the girl and you don’t have to waste time arguing about what to watch.”

Casey McDade, Sophomore

Netflix pick: Jurassic World

“So when it gets a little scary you can be like ‘oh!’ and cuddle up to the guy.”

Tom Eustis, Junior

Netflix pick: Crazy, Stupid, Love

“Because when Ryan Gosling says he can do the Dirty Dancing move, I can do that too. And it has a happy ending.”

Ian Lewis, Junior

Netflix pick: The Office

“Because it creates a playful atmosphere.”

And there you have it. While the movies and TV shows may range across the spectrum of genres one things for sure, everyone has their own game plan when it comes to Netflix and Chilling.
