Eugene police are passing out candy along with drinking citations

Oregon police are handing out candy along with citations this Halloweekend.

According to KVAL, Eugene’s local radio station, “They were handing out citations to people walking around with open containers and to minors in possession of alcohol. There were also incidents of prohibited noise and unruly gatherings.”

However, police were also handing out candy around Oregon’s campus to what was stated as, “an effort to build trust with community members.”

Eugene police teamed up with the University of Oregon Police Department and Oregon Liquor Control Commission to make sure people were acting accordingly during the evenings.

The police said that the event elicited a good response from Eugene citizens.
