Donald Trump Jr. makes stop at OSU one week before the election

‘It’s really on you. You’re the generation that’s going to get stuck with this. It’s the first time parents are concerned with what they are handing to their kids as opposed to bearing’

With Election Day just a week away, the Students for Trump organization on Ohio State’s campus brought in Donald Trump Jr., the Republican presidential candidate’s oldest son, to speak to millennials about the importance of showing their support for Trump in the upcoming election.

Trump Jr.’s entrance onto the Ohio Union Performance Hall stage was preceded by a Christian prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, the national anthem, and an introduction by Nick Davis. Davis is the president of Students for Trump, who started the organization in order to “do [his] part to elect Donald Trump and to make it socially acceptable to promote Trump on campus despite the liberal high mind of universities.”

Once at the podium, Trump Jr. started with comments about being a conservative on a college campus. He stated, “Today, the left will have you believe that everything has to be about diversity and I think that’s great, but there also has to be diversity of thought and that is something they have totally eliminated.”

He then went on to criticize politics in general, saying, “Even though there are a lot of conservatives in the room, it’s really both sides that have failed us. It’s career politicians that maybe even got into government for the right reasons and then got sucked into the wormhole. They don’t have an understanding of how to get things done. They don’t have an understanding that it’s your money they are spending. All of those people have gotten rich off the backs of the hard working men and women of this country.”

This transitioned Trump Jr. into his father’s proposal to enforce term limits and bans on high level politicians making deals with other countries for their own enrichment as well as remarks on Hillary Clinton.

“People are saying that she’s worth up to $250 million. How? What has she built? What have they created? Who did they hire? After Bill gave a six-figure speech in that part of the world, Hillary signed off selling 20 percent of our uranium stock to the Russians. Just making a deal just so you can parade around to the media and show that you made a deal doesn’t mean anything if that doesn’t mean anything.”

He went on to address his audience, saying, “You guys have an incredible opportunity. It’s one we probably won’t see again because if we elect Hillary Clinton, arguably the most corrupt candidate in the history of the presidency, you’re not going to ever recover from that. We’re basically saying that it’s okay to do all these things that are so fragrantly corrupt, but we have the chance to put someone who is not beholden to any of those interests, someone who has the guts to have to conversation to take on those very people.”

Trump Jr. ended his speech with remarks about his father.

“The only thing that matters is that we have to fix America. My father did this because he loves this country. He loves the American Dream and he wants to make sure that everyone in this country has the same opportunity to live that dream – to start a great business, to start a great family. It’s an honor to be a small part of this movement. It’s for the American people and nothing else. You guys are this movement.”
