Former Ohio State Child Care Program employee to serve 18 years in prison for sexual abuse

He was accused of rape in 2000 and 2005

After multiple accounts with unlawful sexual conduct and indictments of rape over the years, Nathan Fassnacht, 34, finally received a sentence this morning.

Fassnacht was accused of raping two children, one between the ages of 5 and 6 years old, in 2000 and 2005. One of these rapes allegedly happened at the Ohio State University Child Care Program where he was an employee.

He was arrested in 2014 for rape, but was also questioned for child pornography, and in 2015, accused of seven counts of rape, five of unlawful sexual contact with a minor, six of pandering obscenity involving a minor, and one of compelling prostitution. At that time, Fassnacht was working at Buckeye Ranch, a treatment center for mental, behavioral, and emotional health services for youth and families. He resigned soon after the charges were made formal.

This August, Fassnacht pleaded guilty to one count of sexual battery, three of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, and three of pandering obscenity involving a minor.

He will now serve 18 years in prison and register as a Tier 3 sex offender.
