Bicyclist hit near OSU’s campus by Buckeye’s assistant football coach

The bicyclist suffers head injury, Schiano is fine

Yesterday morning at 6:50 a.m., assistant defensive co-coordinator Greg Schiano was turning north onto Fred Taylor Drive when he hit a 26-year-old student on a bicycle traveling westbound.

The bicyclist, whose name has not been released, was taken to the Wexner Medical Center on campus in stable condition. His head is injured, but he is expected to survive. Schiano, 50, was unharmed by the accident. A police report has not been released and the accident is still under investigation.

This is Schiano’s first season coaching for the Buckeyes. He previously was head coach for Rutgers and the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
