Making fun of the sorority girl who fell out the window is cruel and immature
Yik Yaks are getting over 100 upvotes
On March 24th around 3:30am, a 20-year old girl was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after falling from a third story window at a sorority house on campus. After undergoing surgery, she is projected to make a full recovery.
All may be well with her, but the story is creating some extremely negative and honestly repulsive press on social media.
Yik Yak is flooding with “jokes” about the girl.
The yaks range from semi-distasteful to downright disgusting and the worst part is that they are getting as many as 100+ up votes.
People are even commenting on irrelevant posts to bring up this girl’s misfortune as if it is some spoof news.
I understand a good joke over something sensitive every so often, but this has gotten completely out of control. We as a community need to come together regardless of if we knew her personally or not.
I am upset with the Ohio State community for reacting to this news this way.
In the future, think about how you would feel if you were her and opened up Yik Yak to find this.
