Car thief flips OSU girl’s car on 12th Street

She left her car unattended while taking out the trash and returned to find a man driving it away

An OSU girl’s car was overturned in an attempted theft earlier this afternoon.

An OSU junior was preparing to leave her house on 15th Street.

She started her Saab sedan and ran back inside just to grab her trash to take out. As she was coming back outside, she saw a random man pulling her car out of its parking spot.

“Hey that’s my car!”, she shouted at the man.

The man then threw it into reverse and hit the dumpster in the alley. He sped up the alley and turned right onto Summit St.

She immediately called the police to report the incident and they arrived on the scene soon after.

Not long after, they located the car overturned in the lawn of a house near 12th Street.

The suspect was put in handcuffs and the incident is being investigated.

Security footage shows the suspect lurking around the parking lot and driving away. Footage cut out when the suspect entered the car. The car is likely totaled after colliding with both a tree and a brick wall.
