Gunshots fired on Ohio State’s campus

‘Some guy walked in, apparently with a shotgun’

While most of the student body is just now coming back to campus, Columbus Police were called Sunday morning to the Wexner Center for the Arts where a gun shot was reported.

Logan Sweeney, a student at Focus North High School, was at the scene when the gunman entered the Wex.

He said: “Some guy walked in, apparently with a shotgun. Next thing I know, Swat teams and K-9 units show up.” The detail about the shotgun has not been confirmed by police.

OSU Emergency Management reported that there is not a threat and police investigated the crime scene, having blocked off high street from 15th Avenue to 18th Avenue.

The Department of Public Safety issued the following message yesterday evening:

“At 11:20am, OSU Police received reports from the on-site Public Safety personnel of shots fired in the gallery of the Wexner Center for the Arts.

“The individual vandalized art work prior to taking his own life.

“He is a former Ohio State employee, last employed in 2009.”
