Six-word stories about NYU freshman life

‘Don’t pick Music Business as major’

Have you ever seen six-word stories online that sum up your experience or memories? It could be like “I met my soulmate. She didn’t.” Or it could be “I went traveling, found my home.”

I invited some of my NYU freshmen friends to use six words, and six words only, to tell a piece of their story. The following are what they told me.

Here we go…

“As if I have a life.”

Oh well… Sometimes I wonder about that too.

“I grabbed condom. I wanted candy.”

An interesting lesson for college: no free candy at the Resource Center.

“Ate halal, but did not die.”

Something to be grateful for.

“Veggie no taste. Rice so salty.”

What an impressive realization.

“Now, I speak C Plus Plus.”

Computer science students are indeed cool kids.

“Don’t pick Music Business as major.”

Freshie’s advice for future freshies.

“Go to church, but know little.”

“I have literally gone broke hehe.”

That’s easy to accomplish mostly nowhere but in NYC.

“A very very confused novice debater.”

How confused could be counted as “very very”…

“Was homesick, now call Goddard home.”

Sweet.

“’I think we better be friends.’”

“Acquired new friends: many thanks, Kimmel.”

Now Kimmel sounds like a really cool place to be.

“‘Being me’ is not a competition.”

So true. People often say we need to be ourselves, yet somehow it has been turned into a competition of who could be better at “being me”.

“Learning to be alone. I hope.”

“When in doubt, smile. Always works.”

🙂

“Chase your dreams. Don’t hold back.”
