Sizzling street style: Remember the summer?

Karen Ruiz

Netflix and chilly

Today the weather is awful: it’s cold, it’s wet and nobody wants to go outside.

Just a few weeks ago it was 85 degrees and the sun was shining. Let’s relive the best of summer style 2015.

Sara, 20, record label intern and Rena, 20, student

Sara and Rena step out on a lunch date, donning their favorite trends. Sara, wearing what she described as a “barely there” shirt was her current favorite trend.

Along with Sara, Rena stayed on the theme of comfort and named boyfriend jeans as her current favorite trend.

Phoebe and Tanya, 22, producers

While on their lunch date, Phoebe and Tanya share their favorite trend, mostly focusing on comfort, while maintaining a chic sense of style.

Though Phoebe rejects the social norms of wearing a bra, she makes up for it by reaching for her favorite item, the close cousin of the bra, the bandeau. She loves complimenting her favorite item with the combination of a muscle tee.

Youi, 27, make-up artist

Catching her working on a photo shoot, we caught her in her own as she rocked her unique sense of style, setting herself apart. Using culture as her main source of inspiration, Youi proudly wore a bindi, sharing her knowledge with the deep meaning behind the piece.

Jeffrey, 24, creative director

Even on a hot summer day, Jeffrey refuses to let the weather get in the way of his style. With just a basic sports bra, Jeffrey managed to accessorize with a belly chain, white pants, and a scarf fashioned as a belt, while cooling off with an iced coffee.

Kevin, 30, hair stylist

Even at work, it’s clear Kevin likes to channel his inner 90’s kid. Currently gravitating towards polos, Kevin’s obsession with things that are “new but old looking” is an inspiration.

Anna, 18, lifeguard

Back in the States from her Italian vacation, Anna draws a bohemian inspiration from her travels, as well as her love for vintage and retro fashion.

Adrien, 29, salesman

Vacationing all the way from France, Adrien likes to maintain a casual yet chic street style, incorporating comfort and style all into one.

Pierre, 29, civil engineer

Along with his friend Adrien, Pierre likes to describe his sense of style as “a little bit of everything”.

Pretty, 22, camp counselor

With long blue locks there’s no doubt Pretty likes to be adventurous with her style. Sporting a denim bucket hat and sneakers to bring flair to her basic black dress, she likes to refer to her style  as “just doing her”.

Sam, 25, office manager

Strolling through McCarren Park, Sam displayed both comfort and style, with her floral print dress matched with black canvas sneakers. Adding glam to her outfit, Sam was sporting her lavender colored hair which she says was inspired by her pastel obsession.

Demetrius, 26, photographer/farmer

Working as both a photographer and a farmer, Demetrius says he uses his days out of his farming clothes as a chance to display his unique urban style.

Sarah, 30, hair stylist

On a hot summer day in Williamsburg, you can’t go wrong with a classic graphic tee and shorts.

Jessie, 35, bank manager

It’s not always about what you wear but how you accessorize. Along with her white tank and black high-waisted shorts, Jessie says she loves to incorporate retro pieces into her style. Her favorite accessories she says, are her 50s style glasses and her signature red lipstick.

Anna, 29, curator

Cozy, casual, and chic. Not everyone can pull off the baggy, oversized look, but Anna nails it. She also brightens it up with red slip-on sandals.
