ND sports teams awarded 16 APR public recognition awards

Proving yet again that we also came to play school

On Tuesday, Notre Dame was awarded 16 NCAA Academic Progress Rate public recognition awards.

These awards honor teams that are committed to the academic progress and retention of student-athletes. This year’s awards are based on a combination of APR numbers from academic years 2011-2012 through 2014-2015.

Women’s sports took nine of the 16 awards in the following programs: basketball, cross country, fencing, lacrosse, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Men’s sports received seven of the 16 awards with the following teams honored: cross country, fencing, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and track and field.

With these 16 APR public recognition awards, Notre Dame ranked second out of the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision institutions, beaten out by Stanford for first place, whose teams accumulated a total of 17 awards.
