Just how many selfies are too many selfies?

But, first, lemme take a selfie

It seems that the entirety of American society, and possibly the world, has been swept by the plague of the selfie. Selfie sticks, snapchat selfies, the Selfie song all are commonalities in everyday life. It seems that everywhere we look, someone is taking some form of a selfie.
Now, I’m not saying that the occasional selfie here or there is a bad idea because it’s not. In fact, taking a picture that makes you feel good and posting it is a great testament to self-confidence and self-esteem. But how far is too far? Just how many selfies are too many selfies?
It should be noted that recently it turns out that a selfie, according to the iPhone and Apple world, is something that classifies as you taking a picture with another person using the front camera. So, really, selfies have evolved to much more than self. They have become inclusive ways for friends to bond over taking a picture! In order to understand just how much of a role selfies, alone or with other people, play here is just how many selfies some of these students had on their phones.

“Most of the selfies on my phone are saved snapchats, I think. But, I have 100 selfies on my phone and my camera roll goes back to February of last year. My snapchat has 142, but not all snaps are selfies, to be fair.”
Maggie Schaefer, Freshman, Undecided
“There are 16 selfies on my phone total, including snapchats that have been saved. But I think there is only one actual selfie of just me, most of them are with other people.”
Rachel McMullan, Freshman, Anthropology and Mathematics
“How many selfies are on my phone? five — all of them being people who have stolen my phone.”

Mateo Garcia-Novelli, Freshman, Economics

“98 since I got the phone, which was Junior year of high school. I took MAYBE five of them.”
 Jeffery Murphy, Freshman, Pre-Med
Before checking: “I don’t think I have any.”
After checking: “Oh shit, I have 131! But, two of them are two people who took 60 photos each. Then there are just casual pictures after I get haircuts and/or just random seflies.”
Meg Lloyd, Freshman, History and Political Science
“Well, there are zero on this phone because I got it yesterday. I’m sure were some on my old phone, but it is destroyed. I think most of the selfies on there were my younger siblings trying to be funny.”
Joe Raabe, Freshman
*A picture could not be found…he does not believe in selfies…*
“Zero.”
