Breaking: NC State men’s basketball coach Mark Gottfried has been fired

After days of speculation, Coach Mark Gottfried has officially been fired as the NC State men’s basketball head coach. He will leave the position at the end of the 2017 season.

Since the loss to Wake Forest on Saturday, rumors have been flying about his termination. Athletic Director Debbie Yow confirmed her decision today.

“While it has long been my practice to evaluate the body of work at season’s end…we believe a change in leadership is necessary,” Yow said. She is expected to hold a press conference on Friday.
