Chelsea Clinton disses Trump at North Carolina rally

‘Somebody blows out hot air every time Hillary tries to talk’

Chelsea Clinton made a campaign appearance today on the campus of East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.

Hosting what the campaign calls a College Affordability Forum, Chelsea and a panel of other Clinton campaign associates primarily focused on highlighting “The New College Compact” and praising her mother’s recent performance during Monday’s presidential debate.

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton stressed her commitment to making education universally available Monday night, and her daughter reiterated that message today.

“My mother has been fighting for the rights of students just like you for all her life and I am a personal witness to that,” she announced to the room of about 150, mostly students from ECU.

During her time on stage, Chelsea reminded her supporters that mother and father were hard-working Americans just like everybody else, likely in response to polls suggesting Americans don’t trust career politicians, especially the Clintons.

The small Q&A session was hosted at Mendenhall Student Center where the former first daughter took questions from both students and reporters.

The atmosphere reminded me of my own college days when a special speaker would come to address the class; except most major media outlets and the Secret Service were also in attendance.

“I’m so glad you picked me but I have to be quick because I have class at one,” remarked one student at 12:54pm. He had just asked Clinton about whether her mother’s commitment to making education more affordable applied to all levels of higher education – including community and vocational campuses.

“Well mom plans to make all levels and types of higher education easier to access as well as more diverse!” Chelsea replied, adding: “And if you’re late tell your teacher it was because of me,” to laughter from the audience.

All questions weren’t so civil, however.

“Despite all the claims Hillary made during the debate, I don’t see how she plans on paying for all the stuff she promises,” said a reporter, referring to the Clinton campaign’s education and healthcare agenda. “I don’t believe her; we believed Obama and you see what happened and with the email incident why would American’s believe she’s trustworthy?”

Clinton maintained her composure and explained more specifics of the plan but not before firmly saying: “I’ve known my mother a lot longer than you and she’s been trusted with matters that affect the lives of millions of people.”

Chelsea also couldn’t resist taking another dig at her mother’s republican rival Donald Trump: “You probably could understand her plan better if somebody blow out hot air every time she tries to talk!”
