Real Madrid and Chelsea are coming to Michigan Stadium

The game will be played in the Big House on July 30th, 2016 at 3pm

This summer, Michigan Stadium will be host to a match between Real Madrid and Chelsea, two giants in the soccer world.

The International Champions Cup is a tournament that is played in several countries across the globe each summer, including a tournament that is mainly played in venues across North America.

These matches are pre-season exhibition matches, but it is still organized as a tournament with two groups and an ultimate winner. The tournaments predominantly feature European club teams but often also include club teams from North America. The International Champions Cup was created by Stephen M. Ross (a UM grad and the person after whom the business school is named) and Relevant Sports.

This will be both teams’ third appearances in the North American tournament. Real Madrid won the first edition of the tournament, beating Chelsea in 2013 by a score line of 3-1. Real Madrid also participated in the 2014 tournament while Chelsea played in the 2015 tournament.

When the schedule was first announced earlier this week, Ann Arbor was briefly listed as the location for the game. However, this was edited within minutes of posting and was changed to “TBA.”

Michigan Stadium was last used for this tournament on August 2, 2014 when Real Madrid played Manchester United. Manchester United won the match 3-1 and the game broke the attendance record for a soccer game played in the United States with 109,318 people attending.

The game will be played on July 30, 2016, at 3pm. Tickets are expected to go on presale beginning next week. More information about the tournament can be found here.
