The best places to cry on the Umich campus

Sometimes, you just need to let it all out

The Stacks

Going to one of the top schools in the nation means the going will get tough. Sometimes study breaks turn into sobbing breaks. The Stacks are a prime location for this. Whether it’s in between one of the many shelves of books or in a private desk, the Stacks got your back.

The blue turny chairs in the Fishbowl

We get it. You left printing your 8-page paper worth 20% of your grade until the morning it was due. You only have Michigan time left and MPrint is refusing to acknowledge your paper’s existence and your class is on the 3rd floor of Mason (those stairs though). In those moments, just turn yourself around in these secluded blue beauties and let your tears fall. Maybe you’re magic and it’ll get your paper to print.

Next to the bike racks at Bursley

Chances are, if you’re here, you most unfortunately live on North. That in and of itself is enough to cry about, especially if you’re not an engineer, art student, or musical theater kid (i.e Comm majors like yours truly). So find yourself a nice bench, lay down, and let it all out.

The Markley Wind Tunnel

The gale force winds will both hide the sounds of your sobs and blow away all tears. Also, you can blame your red, puffy face on windburn. This is for the secretive crier. Also for the strong-willed as the windchill is high.

The middle of the Diag

For when you’ve truly given up. Just let go. We’ve all been there. We understand.

Go Blue and Go Crying.
