MSU stands with OSU

As the shock hits, Spartans offer their support

Yesterday morning, reports were blasting across various media sources about an attack that took place at Ohio State University. Social media sites were quickly overrun with posts about the incident and the hashtag, #PrayForOSU, began trending.

With 11 OSU students hospitalized, this event triggered a massive outburst of emotion from the national public, especially from college campuses.

It is still unclear what all transpired during the attack, but there have been reports that the suspect used his car to hit several people and then used a large knife to attack the group. The man was then shot and killed by a campus police officer.

11 victims have been hospitalized to be treated for their wounds. The suspect has been the only fatality reported.

As such crises tend to do, yesterday’s incident has caused several groups to speak out about issues of public safety and cultural intolerance.

However, Michigan State has taken no stance other than that of solidarity.

With such a precarious balance of perspectives it is important not to focus on who is right or wrong, but instead come together and offer our support to the victims and their families.

We should all take the advice of LaPointe, a sophomore at OSU, and set aside our differences to stand together.
