The Detroit Lions are the best team in the NFL

Who needs wins when you’ve got loyal fans and a killer fight song

Despite not always having the winningest record and sometimes being a little hard to love, the Detroit Lions are the best team in the NFL. They have it all: a beautiful city, a beautiful stadium, an elite QB, young talent, an awesome song and clearly some of the best fans.

Detroit

Again, Detroit may not always have the best reputation. But anyone who has actually been to the city knows that this scary stereotype is just that, a stereotype. Detroit is a gorgeous city with renewed growth – it has came a long way in the past few years. There are many restaurants that make for the perfect pre or post game destination and the Detroit River is just blocks away from the stadium, making for gorgeous views.

Ford Field

Since 2002, the Lions have called this field home. Just a block away from Comerica Park, indoor Ford Field allows the Lions to tough out whatever weather Michigan has to offer. It is stunning and has a huge amount of restaurants and stores tucked away in the concourse.

Matt Stafford

After a record-breaking terrible season in 2008, salvation came to the city of Detroit in the form of Matthew Stafford. The young QB took us from 0-16 in 2008 to 11-5 by 2014. In just six short years, Matt turned the fate of the lions around, despite suffering shoulder injuries. Even without Calvin Johnson, I expect Matt’s arm to carry us through the 2016 season.

Young Talent

Lions fans everywhere are a little concerned about the team’s fate now that veteran receiver Calvin Johnson has retired. But worry not Lions fans, the young blood on the team is strong. Eric Ebron has been cultivated into a strong tight end that can be relied on and Ameer Abdullah was greatly successful in his first season wearing that Honolulu blue. Not to mention the powerhouse Ziggy Ansah holding the team down on defense. After the draft this Thursday, we should have even more up and coming talent.

Gridiron Heroes

Better known as the Lions awesome fight song, Gridiron Heroes gets every Lion fan hyped up in Ford Field. If you haven’t had the pleasure of hearing it sung after every touchdown, check out the lyrics:
Forward down the field,
A charging team that will not yield.
And when the Blue and Silver wave,
Stand and cheer the brave.
Rah, Rah, Rah.
Go hard, win the game.
With honor you will keep your fame.
Down the field and gain,
A Lion victory!
GO LIONS!
Although it probably sounded pretty good in your head, hearing the fight song guy sing it at a game is even better.

The Best Fans

Sticking by the Lions side through thick and thin, Detroit’s fans are one of a kind. They have no issue of taking on those cheeseheads or any other fans. Even if the record isn’t always there, lions fans will defend their team tooth and nail.
