MSU is the greatest unviversity in the state, country and probably the world

Is there another school in Michigan… never heard of it

College. One word, seven letters and yet one of the most powerful words a young adult knows. For some, this power is held in the fear or disdain they feel when it is uttered to them, others experience the power from the sheer excitement and mystery of it all. Whether one chooses to further their education or stay behind and pursue other things, no one is exempt from hearing the one-worded seven lettered power.

Those who decide to face the fear or embrace the excitement and go off into the great unknown, soon realize that college is so much more than just an educational experience; it is a mental, emotional, and spiritual one as well. College is an all encompassing, soul shaking, eye opening journey, and that is where a student chooses to go to school is so important; you need to be somewhere you are comfortable and ready to continue your educational journey as well your personal one.

Me and thousands of other students from around the world have chosen to embark on this journey at Michigan State University, and though I can not speak for all, I speak for myself and most of the other students that attend MSU, and say “Let the journey begin!”

Finding just one thing that makes me love MSU is impossible – everything that makes up MSU has its own merit. The first thing that draws me to the University is the Red Cedar River that cuts through campus; it invites weary students to rest and relax on its banks, while taking a much needed break from their classes. But it also offers a scenery that is unique to the campus. How many students can say they have their own river where they can kayak and tube?

My next favorite place on campus is the Beaumont Tower. The gothic tower stands prominent in the middle of campus and reminds all those who enter the campus to stand tall and proud and to never end their educational journey. In addition, the Tower plays joyful tunes from its carillon; if you listen close enough, you can hear the Disney songs that bring you back to the days before all nighters and hating yourself were a thing.

Another piece of the campus that correlates with the Beaumont Tower is the Spartan Statue. The bronze statue stares unyieldingly out into the distance ready to take on any challenge reminding us that because we are Spartans, we are just as ready and prepared to take on the future with unyielding strength and power and end up on top. Finally, the main structure on campus that I can say all Spartans love is the football stadium. Whether you are a football fan or not, no one can deny the effect the stadium has on you. The first time I ever walked in to the stadium, my eyes opened wide in awe, my head was on a constant swivel and all I could say was “This is my school. I go here. I am a part of this.” The stadium is not just a home for the team, it is a home for all MSU students; a gathering place to cheer on and support each other, and I think that is what college is all about.Even though all of these physical places attribute to my love for MSU, it is the feelings, the things that are not tangible, that are what make it the greatest school to go to. The Red Cedar River, the Beaumont Tower, the Sparty Statue and finally, Spartan Stadium are all places the Spartan Spirit, a sense of home and togetherness that comes from diversity, is felt, but the students, faculty and supporters are where it finds a home. Once you are a part of the great Spartan nation, you bleed green. There is nowhere else where school pride and spirit are more alive. We all come together from different places to become Spartans, and because of this, we will live, breath and die as Spartans. We are all joined together as we take our separate journeys, and as we go off on this journey, we all started at the same beginning, and we all know that we will always be a part of greatness.
