People are loving the random pianos on campus

‘We’re infusing music and art together to create this type of community bonding on-campus’

The student group Pianos for Play has placed five pianos around Maryland’s campus for anyone to use and people are loving it.

The pianos, which were painted by students, can be found on Washington Quad, McKeldin Mall, and by the Physical Science Building, Computer Science Building, and Hoff Theatre.

The project started on Monday, and it’s already been met with a lot of enthusiasm. Several videos of students playing the pianos have been featured on the UMD Snap Story, and people have been praising the project on Yik Yak as well.

“We’re infusing music and art together to create this type of community bonding on-campus,” said the President of Pianos for Play, junior Nachmi Kott, in an article for The Diamondback.

The pilot project won’t last forever, though. The pianos will be removed on April 24th, so get out there and hit the keys while you still can.
