When is it acceptable to start listening to Christmas music?

Get your mistletoe ready ladies and gentlemen

It’s Thanksgiving break, and do you know what that means? Christmas is right around the corner.

In just a few short weeks we’ll be packing up and heading home for the holidays, and I think everyone can agree whether you’re listening to a little Silent Night on the sixth floor of McKeldin, or dancing to Deck the Halls in your dorm, nothing puts you in the holiday spirit like a good ole Christmas Carol.

One thing no one seems to agree on, however, is when it’s acceptable to start listening to them. Here’s what some Terps had to say on the subject.

Stephanie, Sophomore

“I don’t start listening to Christmas music until a couple weeks before.”

Branden, Freshman

“Definitely not before December. Listening to Christmas music in November is like talking about your birthday a month in advance.”

Mallory, Freshman

“The earliest acceptable time to listen to Christmas music is definitely the day after Thanksgiving.”

Alex, Sophomore

“In my opinion, any time is Christmas time.”

Julia and Mackenzie, Freshman

“I’m jewish, so I don’t really have an opinion on the matter, but I say listen whenever you want!”

“Christmas music is definitely only acceptable in the month of December. Christmas music year round is almost as bad as Christmas lights year round.”
