If you’re not on Bumble, what are you even doing with your life?

No more lame-ass jokes from fuckbois

Goodbye Tinderella, there’s a new Queen Bee in town; her name is Bumble. As we watched 2015 go, so did Tinder. So long gone are the days of cheesy pickup lines, creepy guys asking in more words or less for sex.

In the wise words of Taylor Swift: “Nice to meet you, where you been? I could show you incredible things. Magic, madness, heaven, sin, saw you there and I thought, oh my God, look at that face. You look like my next mistake. Love’s a game, wanna play?”

I asked in my sorority’s group chat if anyone had any funny Tinder stories and within seconds my phone was blowing up with screen shots of their conversations. We’ve all been there- the creepy texts that have you seriously questioning, has that ever worked for any guy ever?

These JMU boys have quite the creative minds. We came across sisters sending the same messages in from the same guys saying “I’ve gotten that one too before,” and others commenting, “I don’t care what you use, I’m just always protecting my anus now,” anonymous.

How can anyone find love from an app that is constantly throwing vulgar remarks at girls? NO MORE. Ladies, we control the game now. If you’re thinking to yourself, but do I want to try and find someone from an app on my phone, like a game? The answer is yes. Because let’s be honest, love is a game.

With Bumble, only the ladies can make the first move. 24 hours is all we’ve got, if one doesn’t message the guy before the 24 hours are up, the connection vanishes, forever. While talking about the app to some of my guy friends around campus I found a mix of responses to the app. Some had never heard of it, and some had already downloaded it and are using it.

Yes, I’ve had a Tinder. Yes, I’ve downloaded Bumble. I’ve had the app for a little over a week now, testing the waters, and compiling conversations to share with you guys here of the typical situations you may find yourself in.

*First piece of advice, BEWARE. Some of the guys you came across on Tinder may, in fact, buzz their way back into your life on Bumble…

(Tinder 10/2/15)

(Bumble 1/15/16)

There’s the guys you’ll instantly connect with…get excited about those ones!

Some guys you’ll have no problem conversing with, and find yourself feeling like you’ve known them forever…

There’s room for having fun with the app, so don’t be afraid to mess with the guys a little.

Some will be charming romantics…

And some will be dicks.

Sometimes, when I’m messaging guys on the app, striking up silly conversation with them, I find myself wondering, Jorden, what in the world are you doing? Do you really expect to find love on this thing? Your next boyfriend even? Every time I find myself asking these questions I answer them the same way- no.

I’m not looking for true love from one of these apps. We have to look at reality for a second and realize the chance of that happening isn’t very high (never say never). But it’s fun, now fun will be found, and fun will be had. That I absolutely believe in from this app.

Download the app, and don’t waste another minute of your life. We’ve only got one chance to live our lives to the fullest, each and every day. Have some fun! Ready! Set! Swipe right.
