‘Feeling the Bern’ on Tinder

Two women were locked out of the dating app after sending up to 100 messages to campaign for Bernie Sanders

Two women have been booted off Tinder for using the social media site to campaign for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

Married photographer Haley Lent, 22, told Reuters she’d been locked out of the app on Thursday night after speaking to between 50 and 100 people.

The resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, bought a Tinder premium membership and was barred after trying to promote people to vote for Sanders on Wednesday night.

She told Reuters: “I would ask them if they were going to vote in their upcoming primaries.  If they said no or were on the fence, I would try to talk to them and persuade them to vote.”

New Jersey resident, 23 year-old Robyn Gedrich, admitted she sent messages to 60 people a day for two weeks in an effort to convince them to support Bernie over Clinton in the race for the Democratic nomination.

A majority of her messages to other Tinder users read “Do you feel the bern? Please text WORK to 82623 for me. Thanks.”

One user on Twitter, @nikL4urthoughts, responded to the news with a comical tweet.

Personally, I think it’s an unusual (but genius) idea to utilize Tinder as a campaigning platform. It’s certainly different from any of the other tactics used thus far.

Whatever criticism there might be, I’m still giving these women mad props for their creative thinking.

Keep on feelin’ the Bern.
