Every reason IU loves Kilroy’s

You walk pass the brick building and just look at the people on the patio enviously. You scroll through your Instagram feed and see upperclassmen’s pictures of them outside on the patio vibin’. You can’t help but be somewhat jealous. You wonder what it will finally be like until you’re apart of that experience. What else could top your college experience than partying at the number one grossing college bar in America?

There are several reasons to brag about why IU has the best college bars in America but here are just a few:

The energy

The best part about Kilroy’s is that they are always down. Kilroy’s is all about the hype and constantly getting students to come out and play. Just last week on Trivia Night, the Kilroy’s account tweeted, “#DrinkWhileYouThink #WhiskeyWednesay”. For Heaven’s sake, it’s a Wednesday and they gave us a reason to come out. Love that. Kilroy’s has seriously upped all of our college experiences by at least 50 points.

The staff

Have you seen the bartenders at Kilroy’s? One word: Hot. We can ignore the obvious, but it plays such a huge role in the total atmosphere of the bar. Kilroy’s staff has such a strict standard when choosing bartenders. It’s so strict, they even have specific bartenders who work the most popular bars mainly based on attraction, popularity, and work ethic. You know you’ve made it as a Kilroy’s bartender when you’re working old bar on a Tuesday night or the patio on a Friday.

The specials

Where else can you find the most unreal specials like $2 Tuesdays and free food during FAC (Friday After Class for those who aren’t familiar)? You won’t find that anywhere once you graduate. Kilroy’s serves students unlimited and FREE pizza and hamburgers every Friday. The current owners were so impressed with our success, those same exact specials are now implemented to the bars they own at the University of Missouri and the University of Nebraska.

The legacy

You don’t fully understand the significance of Kilroy’s and the name they had made for themselves until you are actually a student at Indiana University. The tradition is surreal. You witness alums walking in, trying to find their picture on the wall from their bar crawl back in ‘06. You see bachelor parties during the summer – who couldn’t think of any place they would rather be on the last night before their wedding day than at Kilroy’s? Kilroy’s symbolizes their golden days, a place where we’ve all thrived at one point or another during our time in Bloomington. Our days as students are ticking, but the legacy and traditions of Kilroy’s is truly timeless.
