Everything you’ll miss as a senior at UIUC

It’s been an emotional four years

It seemed like yesterday when I couldn’t wait to leave school, mainly just Champaign. After years of being at this school, it seems like the weekends blur together and it seems like the same thing again and again. But now that I am about to graduate in a month, I want to take every bit of experiences this campus has to offer. And I’m gonna miss it all so, so much.

Apartment/ Frat parties

When everything is in walking distance, responsibilities seem to fade away. All your friends live within a mile so it is easy to stop by multiple parties in one night and that means meeting even more people as you party hop. It seems like there is always a party going in some frat house with shouting groups of drunk guys.

Shitty (iced) cheap drinks

I mean the drinks are 50 per cent ice and 50 per cent actual liquid but I’m not complaining really. I personally will miss Thursdays night long islands at brothers the most. But just knowing that any day of the week you can go out and knowing there will be a special is comforting. I mean where else can you get drunk in under $20?

RED LION

I mean is there anything else to say about this place? Ok, I won’t miss the ridiculous long line and cover but there will never be another red lion in my heart. From the nice girls you meet in the long bathroom line to the douchebag guys, Red Lion will always surprise you.

Classes

Admit it, there was probably one class that you loved going to no matter how bad that hangover is – or at least I hope there was at least one. When we have the top researchers and professors in the state, there are a lot of cool stuff happening on campus. Lectures are also prime time to try to catch that cute guy in the class that you have been crushing on all semester long.

Quad day

That one extremely hot summer day when we are all moving in and frantic about registering for classes, we are also hit with so many possibilities, with over 400 RSO’s on campus there is a organization for everyone. Also you run into people you haven’t seen all summer and get bunch of free goodies. Majority of the friends I have made on campus are through organizations and so this was a great way to get involved and meet new people!

Espresso Royale

Knowing that once I leave Champaign I might not see another Espresso Royale pains me because of the memories associated with the café. From grabbing coffee late night in the UGL to my all time favorite drink, its hard to replace one of the signature places to go to at U of I. I will forever be missing my iced green tea with passion fruit.

Late night food

With so many places open after 2am, it is heaven for tired students cramming an exam or drunk people. It now seems ridiculous if places don’t open past 2am, but we have become a bit spoiled, I might say.
