Bernie Sanders is speaking at Gaston tomorrow

A Q&A session with students will follow his remarks

Bernie Sanders will be on campus to speak to the GU community tomorrow at 2pm in Gaston Hall.

The GU Politics Executive Director, Mo Elleithee, will moderate a question-and-answer session following his remarks.

In a post written on the GU Politics website, Mr. Elleithee said: “This speech is one of those defining moments in a presidential campaign.”

“For weeks, Senator Sanders and his team have been signalling that he intends to have a thoughtful discussion about what it means to be a ‘democratic socialist.’

“We are psyched he chose Georgetown as the place to have that conversation.”

Georgetown University ID will be required to enter the event, but for all those who can’t attend in person, the speech will be webcast live.

In a report this morning, the New York Times said the senator “will address the subject of his political philosophy head on in a long-awaited speech on Thursday.” The Times compared Senator Sanders’ speech to Obama’s speech on race in 2008.

The event is sponsored by the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service.

The Georgetown community expressed their excitement towards this event over social media.
