Every reason the holidays are the best time of the year

Holiday food and parties for days

When December 1st rolls around, everybody starts celebrating the holidays. While there are a few notorious “holiday haters”, the majority of people enjoy the festivities in the later half of the year. The actives that happen are some of the best parts of the long winter season.

The holiday menu at Starbucks

You know the holidays have arrived when the red Starbucks cups come back into fashion. Every year, people send in their original designs and the cups get prettier and prettier. Peppermint Mochas and Caramel Brulées are amazingly yummy additions that add to the festive holiday cheer.

Shopping for people (and yourself) without guilt

With the arrival of the new season also comes the depletion of your bank account. The older you get, the more people you know, hence the more people you shop for. Your parents, siblings, extended family, best friends, your professors, and (sometimes) even yourself.

Holiday food and parties for days

The holiday season means everybody’s either hosting their own parties or going to one,  and once you travel home for the holidays, you’ll realize there is always a party going on. With that long gap between Thanksgiving and New Years, there is no “dieting” and “eating light”. If you haven’t gained the freshman 15 yet, this period of time is prime. Everyone grabs out their ugly Christmas sweaters, without shame, as there is nothing better than a fun holiday party and all of the food that comes with it.

Putting up a load of holiday decorations

Usually by the first week and a half of December, people bust out the holiday decorations and the Christmas trees. If you live in a dorm though, don’t worry, you can still participate. People who live in dorms sometimes buy mini trees and decorations tailored to their aesthetic, and nothing says the holiday season than the presence of mini twinkly lights.

The end of the semester, and final exam week

Of course you can’t forget about the most stressful week of your life. With all of the other plans the holiday season brings you, you have to also fit in studying for your exams for that last chance of redemption to your grades. Even if you forget what grade you got in Macro, you’ll never forget the endless nights spent in Strozier.
