FSU faces a severely depleted Charleston Southern Buccaneers

CSU has over 30 players suspended

Taking candy from a baby.

At least, that’s how easy this game should be for the Florida State Seminoles. While Charleston Southern University is impressing in the FCS, they lack enough talent to compete against one of the best teams in the entire country.

Winning feels good. Comeback wins feel even better. ?

The Seminoles host CSU in their home opener on Saturday after an impressive comeback win over Ole Miss, now ranked 19 after dropping from 11. CSU’s triple-option offense brings challenges to teams, as seen by their 57-7 win over Division II Kentucky State. Jimbo Fisher went as far as to say that they were “cramming” to prepare for the deadly offense that accrued 527 yards of offense last week.

CSU has won the past five FCS titles but FSU is nationally ranked and one of the most impressive teams in the country. Don’t be surprised if this is a walk in the park for the Seminoles.

It doesn’t help that over 30 CSU players have been suspended for violating NCAA rules.

These suspensions stem from players using left-over book money for other school supplies, an NCAA violation. CSU running back Ben Robinson posted on Facebook about why he will be missing the game tomorrow.

Many of the players, a lot of whom are starters, will not be allowed to participate in this week’s game.  This suspension adds on to the criticism that the NCAA faces with their unnecessarily strict treatment of student athletes.

Robinson wasn’t the only player to vent on Facebook, Frank Cirone also shed more light on the incident that lead to the players being suspended.

Kickoff is at 12:30pm at Doak Campbell Stadium.
