Why was there a coconut on a Hunter West trash can?

Literally a coconut

What does one do when she sees a coconut laying on top of a trash can outside of Hunter West?

She takes pictures of it, of course.

Here it is.

Oh, and interviews the people sitting next to the coconut hoping they know what’s going on. I guess there are a few things that even a native New Yorker can’t ignore.

Asking Keena Carulla, 18 and in the nursing program, what she thought the coconut’s story was, and if she could guess one thing about it, she said: “I just went to a festival in Little Italy, and they had coconut thingys.

“That’s the only thing I can think of.”

Sharar Rash, 19 and undecided, replied: “Drugs. Maybe he was mad high and left his coconut there.”

Shahrar and Keena.

Asking stoic Sharar where he thought the person who left the coconut got it from, he said: “He probably had the munchies, you know?”

To which observant Keena responded: “A coconut though?”

Ever-knowing Sharar said: “Yeah, I know people that would.

“You know they probably bought it at the supermarket or whatever.”

To which impulsive Keena said: “Tell me what supermarket sells coconuts, ’cause I would go there and get a coconut RIGHT now.”
