Studying at Cornell is actually really easy, says 12-year-old boy

He read Lord of The Rings when he was five years old

If you have not heard about the very special addition to Cornell University, then you are quite behind on campus headlines. This year, Cornell University opened its doors to a 12 year old that we are all low-key obsessed with meeting or even getting a quick glance of on campus.

Jeremy Shuler, the 12 year old scholar, told the Associated Press in an interview that “The classes are kind of easy so far, but I know they‘ll be harder pretty soon.”

Yes, while you can already hear Cornell students grumbling about the heavy workload and challenging assignments only two weeks into school, Jeremy is not feeling the brunt yet and seems to be enjoying a blissful part (if there is one) of the semester.

I mean, there are already rumors circulating that he explained concepts to his classmates during a discussion session when these classmates were finding it difficult to grasp a concept taught in class. Yes, a 12 year old is schooling some of the brightest minds in the United States.

At 12 years old, I wonder how many of us even knew what Calculus was, let alone be able to solve calculus problems at that age. Honestly, at 12 years old, most of us were not even thinking about college applications or even thinking about what colleges we would want to attend. Seriously, this boy is a genius.

For anyone who has concerns about his social life, Jeremy addresses this in the interview with Associated Press when he says, “…all the kids in math camp were older than me, so I’m used to having older friends. As long as they like math.”

We are all curious to know what the future holds for Jeremy at Cornell and we are all wondering if he will succeed. It is assuring to know that he anticipates the difficulty and is ready for it. As he said, in referring to the classes, “I know they ‘ll be harder pretty soon.” As for career plans, he told the Associated Press that he would like to “pursue a career in academia.”

Whatever the future holds for Jeremy, it is obvious that Cornell University is lucky to have him as a part of the student body. In the meantime, we will keep looking out for a glimpse of the genius who is making campus headlines.
