Cornell basketball player arrested on suspicion of rape

Charges include first-degree rape and strangulation

Xavier Eaglin ’19 was arrested on Sunday on charges of first-degree rape and three counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, as well as strangulation, according to the Cornell University Police Department.

Eaglin, a Texas native enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, is a forward on the men’s basketball team. According to the roster, he has played in six games this season.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending, says CUPD. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Friday, March 11 at 2:30pm.
