Charlie Tan has withdrawn from Cornell

He will not be returning

Both Cornell officials and Charles Tan’s lawyer Brian DeCarolis have now confirmed that Tan will not be returning to Cornell.

Instead, Tan has withdrawn in light of his impending disciplinary hearing at Cornell. Though a county court judge dismissed the murder charges brought against Tan last year, Cornell had yet to determine whether or not the then-student violated the campus code of conduct.

DeCarolis lawyer described Tan’s reasoning: “With a little time and thought — ‘Eh, maybe this isn’t the place for me, and it’s time to move on.'”

According to DeCarolis and other sources, Tan is now applying to other schools. “He’s moving on. […] A fresh slate is good for everybody.”
