FIJI and Pi Kapp placed on interim suspension

They may not engage in any activities

Phi Gamma Delta and Pi Kappa Phi have been suspended for allegedly hazing their new members.

The two fraternities have been accused of using alcohol in their recruitment activities, which directly violates the recognition policy set forth by Cornell’s Office of Fraternities, Sororities and Independent Living.

Interim suspension disables a fraternity from engaging in activities as a chapter other than the operation of their residence.

Phi Gamma Delta, known as FIJI, has been suspended on the grounds of hazing with alcohol. Pi Kappa Phi, known as Pi Kapp, has been suspended on the grounds of hazing with alcohol in addition to intimidation, verbal abuse and harassment.

The University’s recognition policy for fraternities and sororities says all houses must “refrain from using, furnishing, or having alcohol and other drugs present during the recruitment, education, initiation, or intake of new members.”
