James Franco will speak at Cornell’s graduation this May

And your friends at other schools are jealous

James Franco has been selected to address Cornell’s class of 2016 during convocation on May 29th.

“In Franco, we feel extremely fortunate as he has found success acting, directing, producing, teaching, leading philanthropic efforts, but most importantly staying diligent in his educational pursuits as evidenced by [his] wealth of degrees,” said Zachary Benfanti ’16, chair of Cornell’s Convocation Committee.

After attending UCLA as an English major, Franco earned a writing degree from Columbia University and further pursued studies at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Brooklyn College, Yale University and the Rhode Island School of Design.

“I was on the Convocation Committee for 2015 and my nomination of James Franco was knocked down,” said Thunder Powell, who will be graduating from Cornell in May. “I’m extremely excited that he’s coming.”
