Students tell us what they’ll do if Trump wins the election

Not all of us can leave the country

With Election Day fast-approaching, America faces two scary prospects for the future. Neither option is good – but one is definitely worse. We asked some students what they would do first if Trump wins the election.

Jae Lee, freshman, Biology

“I’ll probably just freeze in fear and contemplate what will happen in the future.”

Mimi Niou, sophomore, Electrical and Computer Engineering

“Start planning my move to Canada.”

Ian Harris, freshman, Physics

“Prepare to defend myself against accusations that my vote for Jill Stein allowed him to win.”

Eugene Chung, junior, Decision Science

“Have a glass of wine to celebrate the national acknowledgement of our collective ignorance and impending 30 years of social psychological research on the Dunning-Kruger effect existent in an entire political party. And I’d buy some Trump stock ASAP.”

Vidya Palepu, sophomore, Technical Writing

“Call my parents to talk about it.”

Grace Yu, freshman, Computer Science

“I honestly don’t know because if Trump wins that represents a whole different idea of America and I’d have to let that sink in for a little…”

Bhushan Jaien, Master’s student, Computer Science

“I’ll go back to my country.”

Alicia, senior, Bachelor of Computer Science & Arts

“Call my parents. They’re first generation immigrants, so I’d be worried about them.”

TJ, freshman, Business

“Laugh.”

Sarah Bender, sophomore, Professional Writing

“Seriously re-evaluate my understanding of humanity.”
