Boston is the second most popular city for sugar babies

The average monthly allowance is over $4k

Boston has a lot of things: excellent schools, great restaurants, and historical landmarks. Even more impressive? Boston is the second most popular city for sugar babies.

For every 1,000 men there are in Boston, three of them are sugar daddies. For every one sugar daddy, there are nine sugar babies who earn an average monthy allowance of $4,111. That's a lot of sugar.

We all know that college costs an arm and a leg, and no one wants to be buried under a pile of student debt as you're having a mid-life crisis. So what better way to battle your impending financial debt than by becoming a sugar baby?

What is a 'sugar baby' you may ask?

According to Urban Dictionary, a sugar baby is a "male or female that accepts money, gifts and other materialistic items from his/her sugardaddy or sugarmama for companionship but is not exclusive to sexual favors."

Where did this idea come from?

The concept of a sugar daddy has been around for a while. Brandon Wade, an MIT graduate student, monopolized on the idea. He viewed sugar babies as a perfect entrepreneurial idea and in 2006, he launched SeekingArrangement.com, a website designed to link sugar babies to sugar daddies.

The site helps interested parties to find local partners, and allows both the sugar baby and sugardaddy or mama to define their terms, explaining what they are and are not comfortable with.

A sugar baby-sugar daddy relationship may only consist of grabbing a bite to eat or taking a walk in the park in exchange for some amount of money.

But then again, it could consist of, uh, much more 'alone time'.

Thanks to Wade's website, along with others, Boston is now home to the second largest number of sugar babies. This could probably be chalked up to the insane number of colleges in such a small area — and therefore the insane amount of college debt that these students have.

In 2012, 60 BU students joined SeekingArrangement.com, a 333% increase, and Wade, the CEO, says it's all because of the poor economy and influence from shows like The Bachelor and Millionaire Matchmaker.

Research states that on average, these Boston sugar daddies have an annual income of $255,000 and a net worth of $4.8 million. Though, we can't forget to mention the fact that 48 percent of sugar daddies are allegedly married.

According to SeekingArrangement.com, there are 9 sugar babies for every sugar daddy in Boston and the average monthly allowance is $4,111.

However, don't go ordering that Canada Goose coat yet, Boston sugar babies, because according to research, $4,111 is not that hefty of a sugar baby allowance. In fact, it's the second lowest sugar baby allowance across American cities.

SeekingArrangement.com says its site is comprised almost entirely of college students looking for a mutually beneficial relationship where a wealthier individual showers the less financially stable individual with money or gifts in exchange for friendship or intimacy.

Some students in the Boston area have called SeekingArrangement.com out for wanting to 'legalize prostitution.'

On the flip side, there are men and women who argue that the site is well needed because so many college students find themselves unable to pay for their education.

A 21 year-old Boston University student and local sugar baby told a news site, 'It’s afforded me the opportunity to do unpaid research and I get to go to nice dinners. It’s been a good experience. I’ve been doing this for almost a year and I’ve never done anything that I feel bad about.'

Well, tuition is due soon and I have seven dollars in my bank account…
