The types of people you meet in Psych 101

Which one of your friends has tried to diagnose you?

As Intro to Psychology is one of the most popular courses at university, the students that take it are all very different.

From the players to the seniors, this is everyone you’ll meet.

The over-eager freshman

They’re the ones who can’t wait to impress their parents and become a psych major.

The squad which only talks to each other

Almost every large lecture has this, and psych 101 is no exception: the group of friends who take this class together and don’t talk to anyone else.  If you’re looking to make friends in class, don’t bother with these guys who will just cling to each other.

The senior

They’re in a predominantly freshman class because they did not complete their social science requirements necessary for graduation.

The players

Going into psych 101, some aim to learn as much as they can about girls or guys so as to improve their “game.”  Be on guard when that cute guy asks if you want to “study” in his room.

The one who is just there for the drugs

Every Psych 101 class has the student who just took the class to learn about drugs and alcohol.  While this is an important part of psychology, it is not the only part.

The one who is there just to diagnose everyone

Many people take Psych 101 to try to understand why their family is so crazy.  About a week into class, they diagnose every member of their family with at least one mental illness.

The one there for the right reason

It’s the student who took this class to understand how people think and why the world is the way it is.  This student takes psych 101 for the right reason.  They ponder the reasons behind everything, including war and peace.
